Beans-A-No-Go

Welp, I tried my hand at the black bean recipe, but I let them sit in the water for two days and they started sprouting :/
I got sick and unmotivated and forgot about them sitting on my kitchen counter… good thing I only used half of what I bought, so maybe tomorrow I’ll brave the crock pot again and try my hand and I will be successful!!

Sickies & Under the Weather

Well it’s been a while since I’ve posted, and it’s all due to a terrible sinus cold that I caught from my hubby, and we have no clue where he got that from!

It started out as a two day sinus cold, then I broke out into a two day fever (probably one of the worst I’ve experienced in several years), then it’s just down to congestion and tiny little ear aches, plus inflamed lymph nodes in my neck, and a dry cough, plus I’ve spot a ton of little red bumps on my stomach and under my chest… I am concerned about the red bumps, they’re not sores, kinda like little bites, but they’re not really itchy. I don’t know, you’d think I would have gone to the Doctor already, but sharing the car means he’s gone by 6:30am and not home until after 6pm, and I’ve been so out of it, just laying in bed all day.

Well not today! I finally got the energy to get out of bed and clean up around the apartment. I (finally) tackled the mess of my desk after graduation and got all the trash thrown away and everything else shoved into a pink tub. It’s a terrible existence to be taught never to throw anything away!! My closest it full of tubs full of things that I barely even remember, I actually got around  to working on my graduation thank you notes, although they aren’t coming out as well as I hoped, I’m using a heat embossing tool for the first time!

Needless to say, when baby gets home from work we’re going grocery shopping and I’m getting the last couple of ingredients to make that Apple Chutney 🙂 can’t wait!!

Uh oh, Sickies :/

Well, the Thomas’ might be under the weather. David woke up late last night coughing up yucky stuff and my sinuses are feeling extra pressure, so either there’s a storm a’ brewing, or we’re getting sick. So goal for today, find a yummy chicken soup recipe and surprise him with a hot meal when he gets off of work.
This week is going to be extra hard because he has to work 12-15 hour days, now he’s under the weather and I’m stuck at home all day.
But at least I have internet now and can figure out some good recipes to try this week!

Who’s A Happy Girl? ME!

Guess who just got her first crock pot????
If you guessed me, that’s right 🙂

I think I need to change the blog title to yummy food and recipes… hahah.

FrugalFeeding

Fall, I mean autumn (you Americans are getting to me), has certainly… descended and what will follow in its footsteps is a plethora of autumnal delights. As mentioned before, our apple tree has been full of life this year and has stayed true to its promise, even though other horticultural members of our usually bountiful garden haven’t. This is more than made up for, however, as the delightfully tasty, yet devilishly spicy chutney you see before you will demonstrate. The chutney is utterly scrumptious and can be enjoyed in all manner of ways, though with cheese and crackers is certainly my favourite. Don’t let the amount of chilli in this recipe put you off; if that much heat isn’t to your taste, simply alter the recipe to suit – it’ll still retain all of its flavour. Enjoy!

Oh goodness, this just looks to tasty! I love spinach and I love pasta, and making it fresh from scratch! Heck yes! 🙂 I just ate lunch, but I am ready to make dinner, this is just too great.

Check Out This Recipe – The Modern Home Kitchen

Homemade Gnocchi! You mean I don’t have to go to Olive Garden to get their delious gnocchi soup, I can easily make this at home? Heck yes! I would have never even thought to try to make this at home, I’m so excited! And hopefully soon this desert will cool down and it will be perfect to make in a soup for Fall/Winter.

Thanks, The Modern Home Kitchen, for posting this on your blog. Your seafood recipes and the gnocchi one are awesome! I’m the type of home-cooker who stays away from seafood unless it’s shrimp or salmon. I look forward to trying some of these dishes soon 🙂

Bare With Me – Plus Salsa Recipe! :)

So I’m new to the whole blogging thing, if you can’t tell already, I don’t know how many posts are too many posts, if each post should have a picture or maybe a funny video… this is my blog so I can do it the way I want, right? Well I started this blog (and two others: JanelleElizabeth, my blog about design, life & love and all the prettier things and inspirations; and YepIJustSaidThat, my blog about rants and raves and funny things that are not appropriate for my other blogs) because ppl say I post too much on Facebook, HELLO you can change your preferences or unfollow me, gosh, now ppl are regulating how much I post, rude.

Anyways, if you like what I have to say and want to see what else interests me, check out my other blogs, I’ll try to keep them updated as much as possible and I’ll try to be the best little blogger ever.
Mean while, in my previous post I mentioned I had some black bean and corn salsa and I had to find a recipe, this first one from AllRecipes.com sounded so delicious with it’s cilantro and tomatoes and avacadoes! YUMMY! But David doesn’t like avacados, so I found another 15-min salsa recipe from Recipes.SparkPeople.com which is just your basic, simple fast recipe. If you try one of them out let me know, I will be trying out the first one soon!

The Downs and Ups – Making the Best With What I Got

Well, this is my first “downer” post, I was so sleepy this morning when David left for work that I decided to just stay in bed and didn’t get up until 11:45!!! Then my parents called and wanted to grab lunch before we start labeling and mailing off my sister’s engagement party announcements. So no leg toning for me this morning :/ I feel even worse because before I went to bed I had decided to just do 5 reps of each instead of the 10 I started to do, even when the workout calls for 15.

I am def feeling the workout in my legs, and since we live on the third floor going up and down those stairs I can really feel it! The only reason I don’t feel so bad about huffing and puffing by the time I walk through my door is even my skinny friends do the same thing, I just take a couple extra mins to catch my breath! I was hoping it’d be a good work out for the last couple of months, but it’s just a pain in the butt!

So tomorrow I’ll make up for missing today and do the full 15 reps of each work out.

However, I was a very good girl and didn’t overeat at dinner yesterday and I had tea instead of soda. PLUS!! I got to order some black bean and corn salsa! That made my night.

Now just to remember that I don’t like eating out and even when I’m super tired I should try to make a meal for us, too expensive and the food wasn’t that great.

And one last thing, I got another graduation check in the mail today from my grandma! Guess who’s going to the store to by her very own crock pot??? THIS GIRL! 🙂

Happy Saturday!
